The Brian Langford Story
2013 Fantasy Cup - Circuit 2 $10,000 Grand Prize Winner!
Wow, what a finish! In one of the closest finishes ever, Brian Langford jumped from fourth to first place with his Homestead finish, winning Fantasy Cup Circuit 2 by .07 points... 7/100th of a point! Less than one-half of a point separated the top 5 teams in this year's Circuit 2 Contest.

The driver who made the difference for Brian was Elliott Sadler. Sadler finished 14th at Homestead. Brian was at Homestead for the race, sitting nervously in the stands. As he watched the cars warm up and head toward the green flag, he used his mobile phone to switch Sadler for Jeff Newman. "The 55 car had been good at Homestead, and Sadler had a good record there also. So, at the last second, I decided to make the switch," said an excited Langford. The difference makers for Brian turned out to be the finishes of Elliot Sadler and Jimmy Johnson over Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman.

The 40 year old landscaper from Naples, Florida knows a little bit about racing, but mostly Swamp Buggy Racing. Brian is a 7 time Swamp Buggy Racing Champion, and his family has been Swamp Buggy Racing for 4 generations. As a driver in the High-Tech Pro Modify Division, Brian has learned to make quick decisions. "It's really fun, and the only hobby I have," he remarked. Nascar is the only sport I follow."

A Fantasy Cup player for 5 years, Brian says this is the first year that he really took the game seriously. "I used to miss weeks and skip making changes," he said. "But, this year I spent more time with it. I paid attention to practice rounds and driver interviews, and it really does make a difference."

A couple of drivers who Brian thought were keys to his victory were Matt Kenseth and Danny Hamlin. "You have to get some drivers who will go up in salary so you have more flexibility with your team," he suggested. "Those two did just that for me."

Brian has a daughter getting ready to turn 16, so he has already decided that some of the $10,300.00 that he won will go towards her first set of wheels. And, he can't wait for Daytona, because he and some friends made arrangements to spend the week there in February. "I've already got my entry in for the 2014 Fantasy Cup Circuit 1," he exclaimed. "I can't wait!"
